After bringing celebrities and purpose-driven brands together in support of great causes for the last two decades, I noticed there’s often been this stigma, that if you don’t have millions of dollars to give, then you can’t participate in philanthropy. I’ve always believed that real change happens when people are empowered to help transform their local communities. There are billions of people in the world who care deeply about making a difference, but don’t have the financial means to donate to charity, and they’ve been largely excluded from philanthropy. Scott and I wanted to create a way to help democratize philanthropy and make it more inclusive. So, we created a platform that allows people all over the world to make a difference without having to donate any money. Anyone with access to a mobile phone, tablet or computer can join our movement. We’re excited for people of all ages to use the power of tech for good. According to a recent study by Saatchi NY, 79% of Gen Z would engage with a brand that could help them make a difference. We built our social impact search engine so we can give people the tools to be the heroes of their own stories and solve humanity’s most pressing problems like saving the Amazon Rainforest, ending global hunger and providing equal opportunities for under-served kids.

The team at Variety Boys & Girls Club is so dedicated to the families they serve. And it all starts with great leadership. Patricia Siqueiros, the Executive Director of VBGC, is originally from Boyle Heights. After getting her Masters in Education from Stanford, she returned to help transform the lives of young people in her community. We have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for this amazing program and we’ve seen firsthand how many smart and talented kids are on their way to creating the great futures they deserve. Amy and I are honored to launch our collaboration with Variety Boys & Girls Club and to support their mission throughout the year.

We’re so blessed to have Amy and Scott Malin at Trueheart as part of our Variety Boys & Girls Club family. They are tireless champions of our work and share our passion to help every child reach their full potential. Our collaboration with the Trueheart social impact search engine is wonderful way for us to empower our members to be ambassadors for our Club and help us raise critical funds for our college scholarship program. Trueheart has created such a simple way to make philanthropy accessible for all, and I can’t wait to see Amy & Scott’s vision turn into a global movement.
